Beautiful one-of-a kind pendant that is forged and fabricated by hand by bench jeweler and artist, Courtney Poole-Pendergrast.
The pendant is sterling silver with copper mountains and a 24k gold sun. The chain is sterling silver, 18” long.
Courtney Poole Pendergrast is the owner, designer, and maker for Poole Pendergrast Studios, located in Toccoa in the foothills of Northeast Georgia.
Her work utilizes ethically sourced materials, and she often incorporates customer’s old, unworn jewelry into new designs. With a high respect for craftsmanship, Courtney utilizes methods of construction reminiscent of jewelers from generations gone by. She enjoys working as a jeweler and metalsmith because it requires ingenuity and creativity. Whether a piece is a custom heirloom to be passed on for generations or an object to be enjoyed by a child, it is carefully considered and well built.
The versatility of metal inspires Courtney while form, function, and aesthetics all play a key role in her designs. By applying different processes, a simple piece of metal can look as soft as a satin bow, rough-hewn as an old, weathered iron gate, or intricate as a piece of lace. She loves that there is always something new to discover, plus she has a soft spot for a well-balanced hammer! Her goal as an artist is to grasp a raw idea and forge it into something tangible and enduring.

​Enjoy a day on the Tugaloo River with Friends

Get a full day usage of the kayaks or canoes to paddle the most beautiful river in North Georgia. The Tugaloo River has a easy flow so you can be a novice and really enjoy the day. Blue heron and sometimes eagles are seen along the river and a trip up to Longnose Creek Falls is amazing. The full day will take you from Yonah Dam down to Owl Swamp or the Railroad Bridge over the river. You can choose your destination along the river.
Invite others to join at $20 / kayak and have a blast. Saturday usage preferred.

On the Nose: Aromas of cherry, plum, anise and cedar give rise to a plush palate.
On the Palate: Flavors of bramble fruit, savory herbs, red earth, minerality and sweet baking spice that lay over the present, yet fine-grain tannins and seamless texture.
Food Pairings: Pair with roasted prime rib with au jus, caussolet, french onion soup with white cheddar couton, charcuterie and firm, savory cheeses.
Bell Tower - Watercolor

​Watercolor batik on rice paper is all about using hot wax to control the watercolor since rice paper is super absorbent. You start by painting light colors all over. Once it dries, you cover the areas you want to keep with hot wax. The wax stops any more paint from getting through. You keep adding layers of color, getting darker each time, and using wax to protect each layer. When you reach the darkest color, there's usually a lot of wax on the paper, making it hard to see what's underneath.
Now comes the fun part! You cover the whole paper with wax, crumple it into a ball, then carefully open it up and paint a loose layer of burnt sienna into the cracks. To get rid of all the wax, you iron the paper between layers of newspaper.
Once that's done, you check the painting and fix any mistakes. The paper can still hold more watercolor, and if you lose some light areas, you can use white gouache mixed with your colors to bring the light back.

Gail Watson is a self-taught artist. She developed her knowledge and skill of watercolor by taking classes and workshops from advanced watercolor artists. She is a signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and has earned signature status in other society’s including Southern Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, South Carolina, Alabama and Tallahassee watercolor societies. She served as the president of the Currahee Artist Guild for 16 consecutive years and now she serves on the board. She is also a member of North Georgia Arts Guild, Sautee Nacoochee Art Center, Anderson Art Guild, the Bowen Center for the Arts, Oconee Cultural Arts Center and the Cherokee County Arts council.
Her passion is painting nature and scenes from her travels and always has her camera ready, looking for her next inspiration.
